Sąspowska Valley in Prehistoric Times

Kamieniste Rockshelter

Posted on 26 January 201930 September 2019

Kamieniste Rockshelter

The rockshelter is located in the rocks named Gęsia Szyja, on the southern slope of the Sąspowska Valley, 55 m above its bottom. Mouth of the Rockshelter is exposed to the east. It has the form of a relatively shallow niche with a large entrance (9 m wide and 2,5 m high). Today, slope leading to the Rockshelter is rather steep.

Research conducted in 1970 by W. Chmielewski pointed to late palaeolithic and neolithic settlement.
